Sea buckthorn berries are amongst the most nutritious berries known. The berries and seeds contain high levels of unsaturated oils (palmitoleic, oleic, linoleic and linolenic acids), antioxidants and vitamin C, as well as significant quantities of carotenoids and Vitamin E.

Extracts of the berries have been demonstrated to confer many health benefits. Ailments and/or injuries treated include burns, dermatitis, wounds and ulcers. There is also some evidence that extracts can boost immune and cardiovascular systems, and have an inhibitive effect on tumerous (cancerous) cells.
